Kimura Gardens Focus Group in Bothell

How does your garden grow? Kimura Gardens is a new CamWest community that’s being planned in Bothell. They are looking for input from potential home buyers on preferences for backyard design. What do you prefer in your backyard? Patios or lawn? Japanese Zen garden or a neat manicured hedge?

What: An informal focus group of participants

  • Between the ages of 28-45

  • with an annual household income between $70k and $130k

  • who are interested in purchasing a new home in Bothell

When: Participants can choose one of two sessions

  • September 9th – 6:00pm to 8:00pm

  • September 14th – 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Participants will receive a $50 Visa gift card for their time.

A Taste of Edmonds 2010

Festivals are always fun! They bring us happiness and lots of pleasure. The more festivals we visit, the more temptation we have to see them again. So, why would we stop you? It’s summer, and summer usually is the best time to visit festivals and enjoy the great time with your friends and family. So, come to Edmonds to celebrate “A Taste of Edmonds” festival for its 28th anniversary.
A Taste of Edmonds is Snohomish Counties’ largest festival. Every year, more than 100,000 people attend the festival to enjoy the amazing arts and crafts, entertainment and rides, and of course to taste beer and wine.
Don’t miss out on one of the best local festivals. Mark your calendars for August 13, 14, 15, and we hope to see you there!

Seattle Bon Odori Summer Festival 2010

Bon Odori is a celebration to remember the gratitude one should feel toward one’s ancestors. Experience this summertime festival with colorful kimono, traditional folk dancing, Taiko demonstrations, and other sights, sounds, and tastes. The public is welcome to take part in the dancing!

Seafair India Days Pow Wow

 The United Indians of All Tribes Foundation hosts this annual celebration of Indian heritage and culture. This event takes place on the beautiful grounds of Discovery Park in Seattle. The Pow Wow usually averages 400-600 dancers in full regalia, 25 drum groups and 10,000 spectators. In addition there are more than 60 vendors showcasing a unique variety of Native American arts and crafts.

The Bite of Seattle 2010

Held at the Seattle Center each year, the Bite of Seattle is one of the most popular and anticipated events each year. While the name suggests that food is the attraction, you’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy live music, cooking demonstrations, and family oriented entertainment.

When: July 16th – 18th, 2010
Hours: Friday 11am – 9pm, Saturday 11am – 9pm, Sunday 11am – 8pm

There’s Food!

Visitors will be treated to all kinds of tasty foods including entrees, desserts, fruit drinks, microbrews, and wine. Many varieties of ethnic foods will be available as well including Thai, German, Greek, Filipino, French, Russian, and Hawaiian. A majority of the food booths will have samples that you can indulge in for free!

There’s Drinks!

Adults can savor the Bite of Seattle’s beer and wine gardens. Beers of the world, Northwest wines, and brand name cocktails can be enjoyed at specifically designated areas throughout the Seattle Center.

There will be music!

In between chowing down or enjoying delicious cocktails or fruit drinks, live music will be performed all throughout the Bite of Seattle event from noon to closing. Rock-n-roll, jazz, swing, and several classical styles will be performed.

There’s more!

Visitors to the bite of Seattle will also have the opportunity to attend contests, comedy shows, commercial exhibits, and a comedy club.

Seattle Symphony to perform free concert at City Hall, May 21

On May 21st, Seattle Symphony Music Director Gerard Schwarz will lead the Orchestra and local teen soloists in a free community concert 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 21, in the Seattle City Hall lobby, 600 Fourth Ave. This special performance is part of Seattle Symphony’s ACCESS Project (Artistic and Cultural Community Engagement with Seattle Symphony). ACCESS is dedicated to bringing classical music to communities throughout the region, especially those areas that don’t often have the opportunity to participate.

After the the concert, audience members can mingle with Symphony members at a post-performance reception in City Hall’s Bertha Knight Landes Room.

The Symphony will perform works by our own Seattle Symphony Composer in Residence Samuel Jones, Ernest Bloch, Charles Tomlinson Griffes, Tchaikovsky, and Mozart. Featured soloists include University of Washington freshman and violinist Jocelyn Chang, Roosevelt High School senior and flutist Lauren Glass, and Issaquah Pacific Cascade freshman and cellist Karissa Zadinsky.

This will be the fourth year in a tradition started in 2006 where the symphony will play to standing-room-only crowds of more than 300. Don’t miss this opportunity to listen to some of the greatest works of classical music and support the young soloists and the rest of the symphony.

Earth Day can and should be every day. Celebrate and take part in a turning point for our earth and our lifestyles. A day designed to bring out awareness and be an environmental “teach-In” . Earth Day was started in 1970 and is recognized by the United Nations.

Be the person who commits to making contributions to sustainable living. Learn about energy efficiency, renewable energy and green jobs. In over 40 years of celebrating earth day let’s continue to be one of the one billion people in 190 countries that take action on Earth Day. Some celebrations are starting on April 17th and running through April 22nd. Check out your neighborhood, city or county for their activities.

Most cities offer events such as contests and awards for the cleanest neighborhoods, workshops on how to reduce garbage, organic soil and worms, green building and remodeling, native groundcovers and plants, composting and compostable food bags, just to name a few topics. There is truly something for everyone and there are often free samples.

‘Nutcracker’ Comes to Bothell in December

The world favorite holiday traditional artistry of the “Nutcracker” is set to be performed live by the Emerald Ballet Theatre accompanied by the Ranier Symphony.  The performance is set for two weekends in December: Dec. 5, 6, 12, and 13 at the Northshore Performing Arts Center in Bothell.  The Emerald Ballet Theatre’s production will draw on this rich classical Russian tradition where Tchaichovsky’ss music and original choreography for Marius Petipa’s ballet originated.

Every seat in the Northshore Performing Arts Center offers an intimate view of the stage as well as the hand-painted set and artistry.

The Northshore Performing Arts Center is located at 18125 92nd Ave., NE., Bothell, WA.

The performances are slated for 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 5, 2 p.m. Dec. 6, 2 p.m. Dec. 12, and 2 p.m. Dec. 13.

Ticket prices are $30 for adults, $25 for senior citizens and $15 for youth seats.
